Should we use tactics as we advance? I was taling to Larke about it and I think we agreed that a little more may be a good idea. If I were in command I would send a placebo army at Idor with all our prisoners and weak troops. Make extra fires ect. to pretend to be the full force. When it reaches Idor its aim will be to set up a seige rather than assault. In the mean time the bulk of our army should skirt the dark lands hitting Tio from the south. Because this will take longer to reach the garrison of Tio will have gone to Idor to lift the seige so we should hit it with minimal defense and break it easily. Once we hold Tio Idor is cut off from aid and should quickly fall with all the men in it (which is likely to be a significant part of the human army as all who survived Aesir, the Idor regiment and any other troops moved to halt us will be there without supplies). In the mean time we shall send a meesage (magic/rider/pigeon) to get an army scraped together back home and to march from the daed lands and hit Kemperbad from the west. This will be another besieging force with no intent of actually taking the city but it will force troops from Lucis and the Fortress away from the conflict in the south to raise this siege. When they appear the army will retreat remaining half a days march away from the human force but returneing to Kemperbad if the human force leaves. This way we can tie a portion of their army and stop it reinforcing any other garrisons. In short we hit them on two fronts with forces not designed to win but rather to tie up men and empty garrisons while our main strength drives a wedge seperating the southern area from the north and taking a city from where we can launch our final assaults. Any theres my tactics on a global scale though doubtless something unexpected will emerge to change them... On a smaller scale... Well we'll have to await the map but if its like I suspect we should have fun with the next city ;D

Sounds like a plan.
Seems only fair someone junior and unpopular should get volunteered to lead the attack on Idor whilst the rest of the forces advance.
We just need to translate this into a story line now.

It might make sense for us to go together to hold the story? Maybe just metion the other forces?
Whatever I meant this more an acedemic excersize than a serious part of the story. Tactics are always good.

Tactica can make the story more exciting; it gives different things to look at rather than just a huge battle. Thats why i liked doing the civilian raid so much before Aesir was sacked; it added more definition. I like your Idea for the two smallers fronts, its smart, but who should lead each small force and who is going to the Dead Lands to rally an army? Also, who will lead the force to destroy Tio? The tactics are great but we need to get an idea of who can do what

Well, whatevger we decide on, I think we should tag each entry as [Sirius - Raising a Legion] or [Victus - Assault on Tio]. I jsut used the names for examples, dunno what we have planned yet. I like the tactics, really adds that much more to the story. I think it would be cool to throw in some random events maybe? Perhaps a few Human armies are marching out to intercept us on the plains before we can close on the city or cities. Buut those are just some ideas too, Im sure we could drum up something more exciting than that!

Well Balphegor and his Bloodbane warriors are elite shock troops, with special skills in shock tactics and assaults, and are fearless because of the bloodthirst within them. They can also suffer from horrendous damage before dying.
Best used for a frontal charge to ensure maximum damage and minimal losses, or for special assaults.

And another thing, where exactly did our forces come from? The Dark Lands in the south east? It may be interesting to send our army-raiser to the Dead Lands to see whats out there.
My tactics:
Will pretty much play off of Heretic's. We will send a mock army straight to Idor, hopefully to pull Human forces from the surrounding area and from Tio. Our elite forces will skirt the dark lands for several miles until they can make for cover of the forests southeast of the river and Tio. From there they will have to make a cross-river assualt, but Im sure they can manage.
Meanwhile, I will take an expiditionary force into the Deadlands to raise the army to attack Kemperbad. These men will also create a skirmish along that entire river to intercept any supply routes and fleeing civilians from Tio and Idor. Bascially, its going to create a death trap.

Do we have an "overall commander" then?
Seems that someone should start of the war council?

I may be wrong, but wouldn't it make some sense for the humans to destroy all bridges and other ways of crossing the river Irgian? all of their cities lie across this body of water, and it would cause us great dificulty getting to them.

Random events could be generated three ways. Someone/s could be nominated to pull them when they think it would most advance the story. Equally well we could make a list of events and every so often pick one at random.
As far as the human army goes... well it would seem obvious atm to reinforce Idor with a good portion of the other garrisons though Kemperbad would want to remain strong as it is near the border and the fortress will want most of its garrison and engineers to ready it in case it all goes wrong. Tio is also of limited importance.
Were I the huam general I would run soemthing like this:
Kemperbad 75% strength Lucis 30% Fortress 145% (I imagine there would be a double garrison here so 200 would be normal) Tio 70% Idor 185%
15% of a garrison would be put to scouting dutys to watch the enemy fronts and keep my intelligence up.
Another 15% would be concealed in the country by the front or move in secret groups to attempt to get behind the main force to disrupt supply lines and harry them.
I am assuming that slightly over one full garrison would not have survived at Aesir.
If we're getting tactial we need to know more what our needs are. Does the Legio ordio need much food? How big are our reserves? How big are the human's? How are we funding this campaign?

Well I think as far as supplies and resources go, we left the Dark Lands with as much as we needed, and then will proceed to loot and pillage Aesir of its riches and supplies to fund our ongoing war.

That, and most of the Legio is half dead anyways. Do zombies need food? But the others (human traitors and stuff) probably have brought plenty, and like larkin said, we can pillage the small towns and villages along the way.
Good points about the garrisons. Also another thing would be that a human force of considerable size could easily disrupt us when we are mobile and underway, which is our most vunerable time. If they catch it right, it would be total chaos for us until we could muster an organized defence.

I think for the point of view of supplies, we should be ok for a short campaign by bringing food with the army and scavanging from the lands we are fighting in.
As for the random events-I think after each major battle if we hold a council of war, our overall commander, or at least one of the main warlords should have some kind of briefing suggesting the activities of the armies of the realm of man and then allow us to plan accordingly.
So for this part, Sirius could say that scouts have found several bridges destroyed and a force of humans moving to reiniforce Idor or whatever.
Just a thought
